The winner was "Safety Vision"
It can sometimes be a dangerous journey on a motorcycle. The ARM Powered® Safety Vision helmet provides motorcyclist support and assistance whilst out on the road. Designed to assist the two wheeler rider in the day or at night, night vision cameras track the road, identifying pot-holes, other road vehicles, even pedestrians and an enhanced image is shown in the head up display on the visor. It helps out in poorly lit areas, extends headlamp viewing distance, and removes glare from oncoming traffic. Satnav directions and other traffic information can also be relayed to the display.
The other finalists included:
The Domestic Watch
Can’t keep up with with the daily chores? Kids rushing around causing chaos in the school holidays? Ever forget dinner is starting to burn in the oven? Fridge door left open? Why not have the devices tell an ARM Powered® wristwatch the status? This would allow monitoring from anywhere in the house or garden and alerts on events e.g. washing cycle finished, oven up to temperature/finished, dish- washer finished etc.
The Magic Mirror
Want to keep up to do date with the latest trends? Want to ensure your makeup isn’t going to clash with hair, clothes? In a rush, and need some ideas now? Bringing cosmetics into the 21st century is the ARM Powered® compact with integrated cosmetic tray and display using facial recognition technology. Makeup suggestions are made based upon the items you have within the cosmetic tray, then before and after images overlaid onto the image of your face on the display show the effects of the makeup. It will even monitor you as you apply the makeup, highlighting if your mascara or lipstick slips.
The Global Translator
Imagine – you are in a foreign country on business and confronted with a slew of signs you cannot read, either in the street, or on a building etc. Pull out your ARM Powered® mobile phone or camera. Point its at the sign and the device works out where you are in the world via GPS, and sets the local language. The phone takes a snap of the image, then accesses a database for the local language, and proceeds to perform character recognition on the image in real-time. The translation is then passed to a video rendering engine, which displays this text in a graphical overlay on top of the original sign on the screen of your mobile or camera.
The LIVE Jacket
Why have displays on all your gadgets consuming power when you could have images woven into your organic active matrix flexible displays on your ARM Powered® clothing? An animated watch on the one arm of your shirt, SMS messages displayed on the other, shopping list on a glove, your bank balance displayed on the inside of your wallet pocket. Static advertising logos on sports players clothing will become a thing of the past. Film companies showing movie trailers, music companies showing new videos, logos rotating, and new products advertised … An advertiser's dream come true?
